DAY 1 USA - LISBON

Our pilgrimage begins with a transatlantic flight to Lisbon. Dinner and overnight onboard.

DAY 2 LISBON - SANTAREM - FATIMA

Arrive Lisbon early afternoon. Depart for Santarem, one of the oldest cities in the world. We will walk through its narrow streets to the Church of St. Stephen, containing the oldest recorded Eucharistic miracle. This miracle has been on continuous display since 1269 A.D. Continue to Fatima. Dinner and overnight in Fatima.

DAY 3 FATIMA

Fatima is the place where the Blessed Mother appeared in 1917 to 3 children and asked mankind to pray for peace. You will visit the Basilica, the site where Francisco, Jacinta, and Lucia’s graves are located, the hamlet of Aljustrel where the children lived, and Valinhos, the Site of Our Lady’s apparition after the children’s return from prison. Follow the Stations of the Cross along “the Sacred Way” culminating in the Chapel of Calvary, which overlooks Fatima. In the evening, join pilgrims from around the world in an evening candlelight procession to pray the rosary.

DAY 4 FATIMA - BURGOS

Depart to Burgos. Orientation tour. Visit Burgos' famous Gothic Basilica. Dinner and overnight in Burgos.

DAY 5 BURGOS - LOURDES

Depart Burgos after breakfast. Arrive Lourdes in the afternoon and visit the Shrine. Take part in the evening Candlelight Procession and International Rosary, if available. Dinner and overnight in Lourdes. (B, D)

DAY 6 LOURDES

Walking tour of Lourdes, visiting the Boly Mills, the Locale Mill, the "Cachot", the parish Church. We will have time to go to the miraculous baths. Evening candlelight procession. Dinner and overnight.

DAY 7 LOURDES - BARCELONA - MONTSERRAT

Morning departure to Barcelona. Barcelona is the capital of the region of Catalonia and the second largest city in Spain. Situated on the northeast coast of Spain not far from the French border, Barcelona has been inhabited since Roman times, when it was known as Barcino. Its 13th-century cathedral stands on a site previously occupied by a Roman temple and later a mosque. Enjoy a sightseeing tour of the city. And continue to Montserrat for dinner and overnight.

DAY 8 MONTSERRAT - ZARAGOZA

A rugged mountain is home to one of the most popular pilgrimage destinations in Spain: the Shrine of Our Lady of Montserrat. Since the 12th century, pilgrims have been drawn to the mountain to venerate the miraculous statue of the Black Madonna (La Moreneta). Millions of pilgrims visit Montserrat every year. We will enjoy a tour of Monserrat and then travel to Zaragoza. Upon arrival, we visit one of the world's largest Marian Shrines, Our Lady of the Pillar. The pillar, given by Our Lady to St. James, Spain's patron saint, gives off an extraordinary fragrance. This place visited by Our Lady before her Assumption, offers visitors a glimpse of the Holy Land. Dinner and overnight in Zaragoza.

Day 9 ZARAGOZA - MADRID

Breakfast. Depart for Madrid. Enjoy a sightseeing tour of the Spanish capital. Dinner and overnight.

DAY 10 MADRID - AVILA

Depart for Avila, the home of St Teresa. We will enjoy a five hour visit. Ávila is a medieval city in western Spain, about 70 miles northwest of Madrid. Founded in the 11th century to protect the Spanish territories from the Moors, Ávila has a magnificently well-preserved city wall, a historic cathedral, a number of Romanesque churches, and an authentic medieval atmosphere. For all these reasons, the entire Old Town of Ávila has been designated a World Heritage Site by UNESCO. For pilgrims, the city of Ávila is important because of its association with the great mystic and reformer St. Teresa de Jesus, better known as St. Teresa of Ávila. Teresa was a 16th-century Carmelite nun who reformed her order, had many ecstatic visions, and wrote several books. She is the female patron saint of Spain and was the first woman to be named a Doctor of the Church. Ávila contains two main shrines honoring St. Teresa, along with a few more sites associated with the saint. The primary shrine is the Convento de Santa Teresa (Convent of St. Teresa), a convent contains her relics, and the second is the Monasterio de la Encarnacion, where St. Teresa lived and where her cell can be visited. Return to Madrid for dinner and overnight. Optional Flamenco show.

DAY 11 MADRID - USA

Depart for Madrid's airport after breakfast for our flight home.
